MLM businesses, as a whole, have received a bad rap from many people. Most people think of losing thousands of dollars when they are asked their feelings about MLM companies. Unfortunately, this is not far from the truth.
What most people don’t understand is that few people lose “thousands” of dollars in the MLM industry in one MLM business.
Their loses build because they continue to search for the “holy grail” of MLM companies by jumping from one business to another every 6 – 9 months. After the 3rd business, most losses are over a thousand dollars and the losses build with each subsequent business that is joined and dropped. So, if people are willing to join a company and then drop out after 6 – 9 months, why are they calling these MLM companies “scams”?

- They were “promised” large incomes with little work and to be honest with any business there is WORK….hence the word NetWORK!
- The marketing literature and hyped up NO Integrity…Character Poor…Honesty Lost…distributors said people would flock to this new opportunity….and of course this NEVER happens.
- The testimonials, from people in luxurious locations or with fancy new cars, gave glowing reports of all of the money they would make and they didn’t make any money.
- The sponsors could not answer their questions as to how to build their business, where to find good leads, or how to make money. This is mainly because the sponsor is also not making any money.
So, what do you do if you are looking to add to your income by joining a Network Marketing / MLM company part time or full time?
Is MLM truly a scam?
The answer is quite simply…..NO!
MLM or Network Marketing in itself is not a scam. What is a scam is how the business is being marketed by all those hyped up, slime bag, unethical people out there. How do I know this? Been there and been sucked in before. I have learned that one must develop the skill set to become successful in any business…no matter what that business may be. Being in the home based business industry….I’m sure you’ve heard it all before…..”Some Will, Some Won’t, So What, Someone is always Waiting.” This holds true for most people…..and sometimes that one person with incredible potential (yes potentialitis) just requires a small yet positive push every once in a while.
Being a leader in this industry, you may at times find it difficult to motivate. Once you know that your new business partner wants to make money so that he/she can quit their job and work from home you have a huge amount of ammunition and you will know exactly how to motivate them towards success.
Whenever you’re talking to someone about what motivates them, make them be as specific as possible. Don’t just let them tell you that they want more money. Find out what they plan on using that money for. People don’t just want money for the sake of having money. They have an idea in mind about how they want to spend it and how it will change their life. Once you tap into that, you have instant motivation for each one of your team members.
By knowing your team members personally and finding out what really gets them excited you will be able to motivate them more easily and they will make more money which will in turn strengthen the team. So everybody wins.

Do You Have Someone Holding You Accountable In Your Home Based Business?
One of the few things that I love about having a “real job” is that there are always people there holding you accountable for what you say you’re going to do. If you don’t come to work for a week you’d better believe that there would be consequences or at the very least you’d be getting some angry phone calls from your boss. That is what keeps you on track. It’s what makes you show up to work every day even when you don’t feel like it and you’d rather be doing something else. Accountability is extremely important and it’s something that a lot of home based business owners are really missing.
It can be very isolating working from home. Even if you have other people in the business that you like and are friends with it can be very easy to cover up how much you are actually working. It’s easy to pretend that you’re working your business very hard when really you’re doing very little. That’s why you need to have someone to be accountable to so that you can make sure you’re doing everything you need to do to be really successful in your business.
Your accountability partner can be just about anyone. It can be the person who brought you into the business or just someone you know from your team. It can be your spouse or a close friend pretty much anyone can sign up for the job. The key is finding someone who isn’t afraid to be a little tough on you when you don’t do what you say you’re going to do. Also, you must find someone who you will be honest with. If you haven’t worked in a week you must tell them. Honesty is really the only way that an accountability partner will work for you. So find someone and really open up to them.
Once you have someone who will help to motivate you and keep you accountable you will start to see your business really grow. You won’t be able to just half way work your business and you’ll start seeing more growth because when you are consistently working your business you won’t be able to stop the success from coming. Everyone in a home based business needs an accountability partner who they can be honest with and who can push them on to greatness in their business.

Anyone Can Be a Network Marketing Success

No not those, these….Desire, Drive, and Determination!
Being part of a great team is also important. So are some tips on what is required to be that success. Feel free to share this post with anyone on your team, because the only way to truly make a lot of money in this industry is help each team member become a great network marketing mentor as well. My goal is to create as many Ten Thousandaires as possible. Yes that’s ten thousand a month….not a year.
Tip #1:
Be a leader not a follower. Show your team how to take action by actually taking action yourself. Even if you’re not certain what you’re doing, you must be willing to attempt certain things to show your team that it’s OK to go into the unknown. The best way to get your team to take action is to continue contacting, explaining the power of Network Marketing and teaming up with new people every month. Lead by example, and don’t expect your team to do things that you yourself are not doing.
Tip #2:
Don’t be a babysitter. Never give your team members any expectations that you will be hovering over them to make sure they’re getting their work done and producing. This is not a job, and you are not their boss. We are all independent entrepreneurs, and 1 of the reasons we got in this industry is because we’re psychologically unemployable…or at least I am LOL. We don’t want to have a boss, which means we also don’t want babysitters for mentors. The thing is that most people in the beginning are too accustomed to having a boss, which means you have to set the expectation immediately that you will be here to support them as a great network marketing mentor when they need your help, and that you will not be calling them to make sure they’re getting their work done. The must call you.
Tip #3:
Point your team at tools and resources. Again you have to remember that we all must develop independent leadership by developing the proper skill set to make serious money in this industry. So assisting your team members to form the habits required is key! If someone contacts you with a question that they can easily find the answer to on Google, tell them to Google it themselves. If they contact you with support issues, tell them to contact support. If they can get the information they’re looking for in a training video, then you shouldn’t be wasting 1-on-1 time teaching them something. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t assist your team or coach your team, of course you must. We all have the same time in a day, and in order to be respectful of your time they should form the habit of doing independent search. When you teach them this habit, they too will be able to pass it on to their team, and that’s what will allow more time-freedom in all of our lives.
We all must form habits that you want your team to form so that both you and your team can make more money in less time. This is the key to being a great network marketing mentor. If you don’t have a mentor that’s pushing you like this, then you should certainly surround yourself with someone that will. That’s what I did when I got started. I surrounded myself with the right people and so should you.

No matter how good your site looks, it’s wasted if your online audience is too small. As most people know you can pay to boost your search rankings – Google Ad for example will boost your ranking at a price. Now when you first get started in the online world, you don’t want to spend a lot of money….I get it. What you have to get is that marketing and advertising is KEY!
Here are some FREE traffic getting tricks and tools that you, or your Web Designer can use to boost your ranking.
1. Site Submission / Submitting
Search engines don’t just find your site by accident, they need to know you exist. At the very least, you MUST submit your site to the bid three…Google, Yahoo and Bing (owned by Microsoft).

2. Human Site Submission / Submitting
Another key place to submit your site is:
www.dmoz.org/help/submit.html
This is an independent, non-profit Web monitoring project that links to Google’s directory. When you submit your site to Dmoz it will be checked by a real human being…..how cool is that! The downside to human interaction is they take their time. So it may be a while before you reap the rewards.
3. Using a Sitemap
Does your site have a sitemap? It’s an often neglected file that gives search engines a list of your website’s contents. The good news is that you don’t even have to know how to make a map. Several sites will generate one for you. Once created don’t forget to submit your sitemap to search engines.

4. Content Content Content
Content is king when it comes to making your site visible to users. Just put yourself into the minds of your potential customers. Let’s say you’re a seller of shoes in the Sudbury area. What would potential customers type into a search engine? They might be looking for someone local to them, for a particular brand, type or size of shoe. Now look at the text of your website. Have you got all the bases covered?
No matter how good your site looks, it’s wasted if your online audience is too small.
5. Keywords Help
Keywords are hidden within the code of your website, and they should cover any search terms that your customers might use. It is worth getting them right. Google’s search – based keyword tool (just search “keyword tool” at www.google.com) can help. Ironically, Google doesn’t take any account of keywords. Other search engines do, though.
6. Photos Work
Photos enhance your website’s appearance and they can also help search engines if you’re canny with naming the files. So “Nike_Size_15_Sudbury_shoes.jpg” WILL help and “shoe123.jpg” will do absolutely nothing.
7. Reciprocal Links
Links from other sites to yours can really boost your rankings, so it’s worth getting involved in Social Media sites, Forums and Discussion Boards and linking back to your site. Be aware of asking your best friend to link to your site in exchange for you doing the same thing. Search engines are wise to this tactic and frown upon it.
8. Descriptive Meta Tag
Meta tags are optional HTML coding elements that provide information about a web page. Your description meta tag is hidden from view, and it’s a vital smoke signal for search engines. It’s your opportunity to describe, in the meta tag, what your website is about. So keep it short and sweet, and remember that each page of your website can and should have a separate description.
9. Focused Headings
In contract to meta tags, a more visible area of your site to search engines is the headings you use on your website. These are essential reading for search engine robots. Make them relevant. Better still, make them feature your sites keywords.

So get back to your site utilizing this information and check that your site is search engine optimized.
